Frequently Asked Questions

What is Co-Managed IT?

Co-managed IT is a partnership between your internal IT team and an external organization. It’s an easy way for growing companies to quickly get manpower, specialized expertise, and IT management and automation tools without the cost of expensive hardware or software, as well as without finding, managing, and retaining a large IT staff. Companies like yours face a dilemma of needing professional grade IT support but can’t reasonably afford to invest in all of the tools, software, and staff required. This is exactly why we created a solution that we call Co-Managed IT.

What are the benefits of Co-Managed IT?

An immediately available team of skilled IT professionals. As a Co-Managed IT client, your IT lead will have access to a deep bench of expertise to figure out the best solution to a problem, to get advice on a situation or error they’ve never encountered before, and to help decide what technologies are most appropriate for you (without having to do the work of investigating them ALL). No additional staff on your payroll. Finding, hiring, and retaining TOP talent is brutally difficult. With Co-Managed IT, you don’t have the cost, overhead, or risk of a big IT team and department. You won’t lose us to maternity leave or an illness. Instant access to powerful IT automation and management tools. These tools will enable you to prioritize and resolve your employees’ problems faster, improve communication, and make your IT department far more effective and efficient. These are software tools your company could not reasonably afford on its own, but they are included in our Co-Managed IT program. 24/7 offsite support. In an unexpected incident, your IT leader is unable to perform their job, or if a disaster were to strike, we would instantly provide support to prevent the wheels from falling off. More experts dedicated to your cybersecurity. You’ll stop worrying (or worry less!) about falling victim to a major cyber-attack, outage, or data-erasing event. We can assist your IT leader in implementing next-gen cybersecurity measures to prevent or significantly mitigate the damages of a ransomware attack or security breach. We can also assist in providing end-user awareness training and help you initiate controls to prevent employees from doing things that would compromise the security and integrity of your network and data. No long-term contracts. We’re a flexible workforce you can expand and contract as needed.

How much does Co-managed IT cost?

Co-managed IT often costs 20%-30% less than Managed IT plans. Each company provides different price points, and it’s best to schedule a consultation to better understand the specific needs of each business.

Who is a good fit for Co-Managed IT?

Is your in-house IT staff better with high-level strategic projects and initiatives but needs support in getting day-to-day tasks completed? Co-managed IT can easily help troubleshoot various problems that arise, and provide help-desk resources to your employees, software upgrades, data backup, hardware maintenance, and more. IT departments with no dedicated cybersecurity, server maintenance, or compliance staff. Do you have an in-house IT that’s great with help desk and end-user support but doesn’t have the in-depth expertise needed for advanced cybersecurity protection, line of business application upgrades, server maintenance, cloud technologies, or compliance regulations? A Co-managed IT team can help fill in the areas where they need assistance. Rapidly expanding companies. A company in rapid expansion needs to scale up IT staff and resources quickly. Flexible support services like Co-managed IT get you through this phase while you build your internal IT department. Organizations with inefficient internal IT systems. You have an excellent IT team but they can be more efficient with professional-grade software tools and a helpdesk. Co-managed IT teams can help configure these tools and train your staff on how to use them. IT teams with no escalation personnel. Your IT team could use a higher-level resource for intractable issues they can’t resolve. Having an escalation resource available helps overall efficiency. We can train the trainer.

What are the misconceptions on Co-Managed IT?

Co-Managed IT is NOT about taking over your IT leader’s job or replacing your IT department. It’s also NOT a one-off project-based relationship where we would limit your support to an “event” and then leave your team behind to try and support it. The Co-Managed approach doesn’t replace your IT staff; we make them BETTER. By filling in the gaps and assisting them, giving them best-in-class tools, and training and freeing them to be more proactive and strategic, we make them far more productive for you. As an added bonus, they won't get burned out, frustrated, and leave.

Will a Co-managed IT team replace my internal staff?

No. Co-Managed IT is not about taking over your IT leader’s job or replacing your IT department.

Can I hire Co-managed IT teams to fix one issue?

No. It’s not a one-off project-based relationship where we would limit your support to an “event” and then leave your team behind to try and support it. It’s a long-term partnership and not a band-aid solution.

What to look for in a Co-Managed IT Partner?

(1) Can work with your full-time IT Team. If you have a productive, reliable I.T. leader or department, you ideally want to keep those people on your team, but just make them more productive. No Co-Managed IT provider can fully replicate the value that a full-time IT lead on your staff can deliver. (2) Available during peak demand periods. Your internal IT team doesn’t have to stop working on major projects for small emergencies if you can benefit from additional support during peak demand periods that your Co-Managed IT can guarantee. (3) The Agreement is not limited to monitoring-only. Your Co-Managed IT should not just monitor when a fire is about to happen (or is happening) but they should be able to put out the flames, get you out safe, or prevent the fire from happening in the first place. (4) Does not treat projects as a “one-and-done” Technical project work is often necessary, but you are going to get better results if your Co-Managed IT provider doesn't just drop the solution in and take off, leaving your IT team to figure it how to maintain and optimize the solution over the long term.
